In another article, “Religion, Ignorance and Public Health”, by Dr. Cosmas Odoemana, a medical practioner, who wrote from Terafema.blogspot.com and published in the Guardian of Friday, August 29, 2014 says that, “Ignorance is a scourge. It helps propagate and perpetuate diseases. It is ignorance that has helped spread the ravaging Ebola virus in some West African countries helped by some traditional practices”.

Spiritual ignorance can be deadly too. God says, my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. It is also instructive that Jesus in Mathew 15:6 accused the religious leaders for making the commandment of God to be non effective by their traditions.

The book of Leviticus in the Bible is the first documented health code in the world. The book talks about cleanness and uncleanness (Chapters 11- 16) regarding personal and community responsibilities in cleanliness of the body, sexual health attitude, that we should protect against contagious diseases and lepers should be isolated. In the context of the Old Testament, these regulations were perceived as necessary for holy living.

In spite of these physical, natural laws, Jesus Christ who came to fulfill the law healed lepers when they came to Him for healing. He subsequently referred them to present themselves to the priest. (Mathew 8:11-4).  Some biblical scholars believe that at this time, the priest had physical healing knowledge.

Could Ebola be more contagious than leprosy? The book of Deuteronomy 28:61 captures deadly diseases that were bound to come as a result of not obeying the word [voice]   of God. “Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed”.

Pastors and Doctors need to exercise discretion in these matters. The individuals should be allowed to exercise their choices based on their convictions and level of faith. In all cases Jesus demanded for faith for healing.

Miracles do happen every day in living churches across the world where the “life and spirit” in God’s word are activated.

However, more than ever, the time   for a much vital Christianity that verifies the practical literal  truth of the God’s Word  has come.

“Crowds listened intently to what he[Philip] had to say because of the miracles he did.

Many evil spirits were cast out, screaming as they left their victims, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.

So there was much joy in that city”(Acts 8:6,7).

Do we need divine solution.? What's your revelation on this?
