Supernatural Secrets of Successful Marriage 3

...The Power of Word Pictures and Power of the Word

God's  Word  Shines Visible or  Invisible Light on Our Path often Paved with    Dark Danger Unknown

Posted by Ambassador T. Brikins
We can realize our dreams in marriage. But dreams require actions or  engagement of relevant knowledge.  About three  years ago,   a grandmother approached me to   narrate her marital pain.  She had been married for about thirty   years. The marriage  was  blessed with male and female children who at the time were University graduates and in good employment.
To her surprise, her   husband who is an ordained minister married another woman and brought her to the matrimonial home. This was on for about twelve years when she narrated this story to me.
My advice was simple but I made  her realize   that believing is an active verb that does something and it is also work.
I commended her to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build a marriage up, and to give her a blissful marriage inheritance among all of them which are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)
She was made to focus, imagine, confess, meditate, pray and praise God for His word concerning marriage. She carried the vision of a blissful Edenic marriage despising the urgly reality in her home. She never let go from her consciousness the pictures the word   showed neither did she waver but maintained absolute believe in the power that  word of God  carries.
Three years later her marriage was restored as she desired. The other woman left.

6. WORD PICTURE help us to know and comprehend messages in the Bible. The ignorance of these word pictures could lead to wrong and dangerous conclusions. They are so important that Christ 50 in the Sermon on the Mount. Almost like a simile word picture compares one concept with another. The concept that is compared is called the topic, and the concept it is compared with, is called the image. The comparison between the concepts is the point of similarity. These three elements are fundamental to understand meaning of a message.  Because God’s Word is the ultimate recipe for success in marriage, He uses word picture to highlight and express the importance of His words which are indeed laws. Pictures help us to imagine, conceive of; see in our minds or visualize an abstract idea. The Word there is a LAMP to our feet and a light to our path. Psalm 119:105. Where there is confusion or dilemma in marriage, the word will throw light or answer to show what to do. In Malachy 2:14, the Word Picture portrays God as the witness to a marriage. ‘’Yet you ask, why does He reject it? Because the Lord was [witness to the Covenant made at your marriage] between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously and to whom you were faithless…’’

7.            The Word is also like RAIN that produces fruit.’’ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes from my mouth; it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing    for which I sent it’’. Isaiah 55:10-11. We see the dark rolling cloud. We see the flashing lightening. We hear the rolling thunder. We hear, see and feel the stormy rain. Then it percolates down and begins the work of watering the earth and making it to bring fruit and bud. Like the rain we do not see the word working, its working in our marriage when we believe and does what it instructs to be done.

8.            The word is SEED. ’’The sower sows the word’’. Mark 4:14. The word grows like plant showing its fruits   in our marriage. The farmer sows the seed and goes home to do other things. He or she is restful because he or she knows it will bud. In the same manner, we need to be restful as we do the word in our marriage situation.

9.            The word is a CONSUMING FIRE. ’’...Behold I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood and it shall devour them’’. Jeremiah 5:14. The word of God contains unseen fire that consumes   hindrance in marriage. A hindrance may be seen or unseen, known or unknown but God’s   word which is spirit can consume hindrance out of existence.   The responsibility to make   the word into a consuming fire belongs to God and our responsibility is to believe. As Abraham we must be fully convinced that what God had promised He is also able to perform.   He says, ‘’Behold I will make my words in your mouth fire…’’. I will, He says, so don’t take His place.

10.          The word is   SWORD ‘’…take the sword of the Spirit; which is the word of God’’.  Ephesians 6:17. This sword of the Spirit is two-edged   which   possesses a cutting or thrusting ability like blades or any sharp implement to cut and slice issues in the spiritual and physical realms that may be fighting against our marriage.

11.          The word is HAMMER. The word is like hammer that breaks rocks in pieces. Jeremiah 23:29. The will shatter like the hammer shatters the rock any problem in marriage that may have may have consolidated and compounded.

12.          Apart from the word being pictures to aid our understanding, it has tremendous POWER within it to create or frame our desire in marriage. ‘’By the word of the Lord the heavens were made and by faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible’’. Psalm 33:6 and Hebrews 11:3. The fundamental raw material for the creation of anything is the word of God. When God told Abraham he will have a child at an extremely old age, his body neither the natural deadness of Sarah’s womb did not matter.

13.          SUSTAINANCE. God keeps and maintains all things by the word of His power. Hebrews 1:3. No wonder He exalts His word above His Name.

Rev. Benny Hynn Ministering Healing to ill Persons

14.          HEALING. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20. This scripture is the title of Pastor Faith Oyedepo, Bishop David Oyedepo (Living Faith Church World Wide, a.k.a. Winners’ Carpel) wife’s book, Delivered from Destruction The book is a testament of how her life was saved from destruction by a debilitating ailment that paralysed her body. Indeed God’s word is life and health to our flesh. Proverbs 4:22

15.          JUDGE OUR HEARTS. ‘‘For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerned of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’’ Hebrew 4:12. The need for a clear conscience in marriage cannot be overemphasized and it is only God’s word that can do this without coercion or force.

Spiritual Combat is not ignored even in the battlefield

16.           The only enemy the Bible calls our adversary is Satan. The word has power to COMBAT  Satan. ’’And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;’ Ephesians 6:17. This was clearly indicated when Jesus Christ was tempted by satan in the wilderness. His combating weapon was, ‘’it is written’’.

17.          The CHARACTERISTICS or distinguishing quality of God’s Word. God’s word is true and reliable. ‘‘And now, O Lord God, You are God, and your words are true, and you have promised this goodness to your servant. Sanctify them by your word, your word is truth. Then the woman said to Elijah, ‘Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth’.2 Samuel 7:28; John 17:17 and 1kings 17:24. This statement was made by the woman whose child died and Elijah commanded that the child’s soul be delivered back. And the child came back to life.
18.          It is LIVING & ACTIVE.’’ It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life’’.John6:63. The Command of the President of any nation either in speech, letter or book forms is as powerful as his presence. The word of God in a hard copy Bible is God’s word in print. He speaks to us and to our situation in marriage with the power of His Omnipresence, Omniscience and Omnipotent presence.

How We Experience the Purpose of Marriage through the Power of God’s Word?

19.          It is mandatory that we HEAR the word of God. ‘’ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed our report?’ So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God’’. Romans 10:16, 17. It is impossible to get anything from God without faith and faith cannot come until we hear the word of God.
20.          We must also UNDERSTAND   the word. ‘‘But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty.’ Mathew 13:23. The result we get from God’s word is determined by the measure or attention and action we give to it. This is further enhanced by the Blood of Jesus that breaks off every seal of ignorance and blindness in our minds.
21.          RECEIVE & BELIEVE   the word. ‘’Then those who   gladly received the word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us,  you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe’’. ‘’And she said, ‘let your maid servant find favour in your sight’’. So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad’ ’Acts 2:41; 1Thessalonians 2:13. 1 Samuel 1:18.  The word of God is inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is different from man’s word. It only works when we believe and do its instructions.
22.          TRUST   in the word.’’ For I trust in your word’’. Psalm 119:42. Confidence, faith, expectation, wish, hope, desire. Our trust in the word must be absolute irrespective of the experience in marriage.
23.          HOPE. ‘‘For I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope’’. Psalm 130:5. We must be expecting and wishing that the word will deliver our desires because He that gave it cannot lie and He does not think the way we think and He is more than capable to do whatever He says beyond what we can imagine.
24.          ACTIVE PRAISE.  ‘‘In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?’’
25.          LIVE   according to the word. ‘‘How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your word’’. Psalm 119:9. We should design our living style on the word.
26.          DO the word. ‘’But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was,. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does’’. James 1:22-24.

We can realize our dreams in marriage. Marriage is a supernatural union of a man and a woman coming together to become one in all things. The surest way to experience   success in marriage is to understand the purpose,   character   and power of God’s word concerning marriage and to maintain and to hold on to it until it accomplices its purpose.
