‘’Some time
ago the papers carried a story of a lone survivor of a shipwreck marooned on an
uninhabited island, who managed to build a hut in which he placed all he had
saved from the wreck.
He prayed to God for rescue and anxiously
scanned the horizon every day to signal any passing ship. One day on returning
from a hunt for food he was horror- stricken to find his hut in flames and all
his possessions consumed.
What a tragedy! Shortly after a ship arrived.
‘’We saw your smoke signal and hastened here, the captain explained. The
survivor thanked God for the incident’’. Dr. Herbert Lockyer wrote in his book,
’All the Promises of the Bible’’.
What an
excellent illustration for Rom 8:28. ‘’… we know that all things work
together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according
to his purpose’’.
The concept
or principle underlying protection against accident in the spiritual space
springs from the truth that though accident is an unforeseen or unexpected
event God whom the believer serves is All-Knowing. His promises testify to this truth.
Since man was created in the image and likeness of God Who is a Spirit and the
Father of spirits, man has the capacity to hear from God and enjoy these
protective privileges.
‘’ Then God
said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over
the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps
on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he
created him; male and female he created them’’. Genesis 1:26-27
By this redemption man became a spirit
possessing a soul and living in a body. With his spirit, he relates with the
spirit world; with his soul he relates with the mental, intellectual or soulish
world and with his body he relates with the physical world through his five
senses.
The word
through the Holy Spirit creates communion with the Spirit realm which controls
activities in the physical realm. That’s why Jesus said, ‘’ it is the spirit
that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you,
they are spirit, and they are life’’. John 6:63. He also reminded Satan that ’’…
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God, ’during His conversation with Satan who is also a spirit being.
The life of
Job demonstrates vividly that accidents like every other thing happens or is
decided in the spiritual realm before they happen in the physical realm.
‘’ There was
a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and
upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
And there were born unto him seven sons and
three daughters.
His substance also was seven thousand sheep,
and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she
asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the
men of the east.
And his sons went and feasted in their houses,
everyone his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to
drink with them.
And it was so, when the days of their feasting
were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the
morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for
Job said, it may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts.
Thus did Job continually.
Now there was a day when the sons of God came
to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest
thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, from going to and fro in the
earth, and from walking up and down in it.
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou
considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect
and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, doth
Job fear God for nought?
Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on
every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is
increased in the land.
But put forth thine hand now, and touch all
that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that
he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan
went forth from the presence of the LORD.
Satan Takes
Job's Property and Children
And there was a day when his sons and his
daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:
And there came a messenger unto Job, and said,
The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:
And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them
away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only
am escaped alone to tell thee.
While he was yet speaking, there came also
another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up
the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to
tell thee.
While he was yet speaking, there came also
another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the
camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge
of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee’’.
While he was yet speaking, there came also
another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in
their eldest brother's house:
And, behold, there came a great wind from the
wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young
men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. ‘’ Job
1:1-16
One thing
that is apparent from the above encounter and the following scripture is that
God provides a hedge of protection and sometimes with fire for His children.
And even when He permits Satan to cause accidental havoc there still exist a
window of grace.
‘’ For I,
saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the
glory in the midst of her’’. Zechariah 2:5.
It is no
secret that God wants you protected from accidents. Below are scriptures
revealing His will to protection and safety towards you. Since faith comes from
hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ I believe these scriptures will
build up faith in you and put you in total safety over accidents. It is like
building your house upon a rock. ‘’ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings
of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his
house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and
the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon
a rock. ‘’ Matthew 7:24, 25
‘’ There are many devices in a man's heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. ‘’ Proverbs 19:21
1. You are created by God to exercise
dominion over circumstances
‘’ Then God
said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over
the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps
on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he
created him; male and female he created them’’. Genesis 1:26-27
“The secret
things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to
our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.’’ Deuteronomy
29:29
2. God sees you
‘’ For the eyes of
the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in
the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him…’’ 2 Chronicles 16:9
3. You have angelic protection against
accidents
‘’ The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and
delivereth them’’. Psalm 34:7
4. Acknowledge, confess and be thankful
over previous protections, safety and defence from the Lord
5. Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So
‘’ O give
thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Let the
redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
And gathered
them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and
from the south.
They
wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
Hungry and
thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
Then they
cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their
distresses.
And he led
them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
Oh that men
would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children
of men!
For he
satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
Such as sit
in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
Because they
rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:
Therefore he
brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to
help.
Then they
cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their
distresses.
He brought
them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
Oh that men
would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the
children of men!
For he hath
broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.
Fools
because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
Their soul
abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
Then they
cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
He sent his
word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Oh that men
would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the
children of men!
And let them
sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
They that go
down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;
These see
the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
For he
commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
They mount
up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted
because of trouble.
They reel to
and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.
Then they
cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their
distresses.
He maketh the
storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
Then are
they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
Oh that men
would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the
children of men!
Let them
exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the
assembly of the elders.
He turneth
rivers into a wilderness, and the water springs into dry ground;
A fruitful
land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
He turneth
the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into water springs.
And there he
maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
and sow the
fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
He blessed
them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffered not their cattle
to decrease.
Again, they
are finished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
He poureth
contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where
there is no way.
Yet Getteth
he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
The
righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
Whoso is
wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the
lovingkindness of the LORD’’. Psalm 107: 1-43
6. The Elshadai God is enough
‘’ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the
most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my
fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of
the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and
under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and
buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by
night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in
darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten
thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see
the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my
refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall
any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest
thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the
young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me,
therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my
name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:
I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With
long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation’’. Psalm 91:1-16.
God your
Warrior goes before you
‘’ The LORD
your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that
he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; …’’Deuteronomy 1:30
7. Study word, meditate on the word and
know what to and not to do to incur the anger of God
‘’ But when
they came to the threshing floor of Ancon, Uzi reached out toward the ark of
God and took hold of it, for the oxen nearly upset it. And the anger of the
Lord burned against Uzi, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and
he died there by the ark of God’’. 2 Samuel 6:6-7.
8. You are protected from the schemes of
highway robbers
‘’
Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month,
to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us
from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way’’. Ezra 8:31.
9. The name of the Lord is your
protective tower
‘’ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the
righteous runneth into it, and is safe’’ Proverbs 18:10
10.
Jehovah
is your only Saviour and Security

thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers,
they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt
not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.’’ Isaiah 43:2
11.
Put
your faith to action
‘’ But
as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake;
and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
And they
came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose,
and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there
was a calm.
And he said
unto them, where is your faith?’’ Luke 8: 23-25
12.
Do
not be anxious
‘’ Look at
the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet
your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
’Matthew 6:26
‘’ Count it all joy, my brothers, when you
meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith
produces steadfastness’’. James 1:2-3.
13.
You
can call on God to protect you
’’ O LORD, I
have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me and rescue
me, for you do what is right’’. Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me
free’’. Psalm 71:1-2.
14.
You
can come to God for protection
‘’ Rescue me
from my enemies, LORD; I come to you for protection’’. Psalm 143:9
15.
God
is on your side to protect you
‘’…Don’t
rebel against God! And don’t be afraid against those people. Why, we’ll have
them for lunch! They have no protection and God is on our side. Don’t be afraid
of them!’’ Numbers 14:6
16.
God
protects you when you seek protection from Him
‘’God reward
you well for what you’ve done-and with a generous bonus besides from God, to
whom you’ve come seeking protection under His wings’’ Ruth 2:11, 12(MSG)?
17.
Your
defence or protection depend on God.
‘’ My defence
and shield depend on God, Who saves the upright in heart’’ Psalm 7:10
18.
God’s
Angel is your corporate guard
‘’The Angel
of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with
awe] and each of them He delivers.’’ Psalm 34:7
19.
You
can ask for His protection
‘’Be thou my
strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given
commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress’’. Psalm 71:3
20.
Only God can preserve you from natural and
supernatural harms
‘’ I will
lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
21.
My
help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not
suffer thy foot to be moved: he that kept thee will not slumber.
Behold, he
that kept Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is
thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun
shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD
shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD
shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even
for evermore’’. Psalm 121:1-8
22.
The
heart is man is desperately wicked, you can’t know it. And indeed you don’t
have to bother yourself to know it. But you can call on God Who knows and sees everything
to deliver you from them
’’ Deliver
me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
which
imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for
war.
They have
sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips.
Selah.
Keep me, O
LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have
purposed to overthrow my goings.
The proud
have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they
have set gins for me. Selah.
I said unto
the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
O GOD the
Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of
battle.
Grant not, O
LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt
themselves. Selah.
As for the
head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover
them’’. Psalm 140: 1-9

24.
Have
confidence or faith in God and His Word

word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him’’.
Add thou not
unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar’’. Proverbs
30:5-6
25.
Your
protection and safety is only in God
‘’You make
plans, but not mine. You make deals but not My Spirit. You pile sin on sin, one
sin on top of another. Going off to Egypt without so much as asking me, Running
off to Pharoah for protection, expecting to hide out in Egypt. Well some
protection Pharoah will be!’’ Isaiah 30:1
26.
You
have power over all the power of the enemy
‘’ And the
seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto
us through thy name.
‘’ Behold, I
give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power
of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you’’. Luke 10: 17, 19.

when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow
him: for they know his voice. ‘’ John 10:4

Apostle
Paul overcomes accident at sea
‘’ And when
it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and
certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.
And entering
into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia;
one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
And the next
day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him
liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
And when we
had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were
contrary.
And when we
had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of
Lycia.
And there
the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us
therein.
And when we
had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind
not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;
And, hardly
passing it, came unto a place which is called the fair havens; nigh whereunto
was the city of Lasea.
Now when
much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was
now already past, Paul admonished them,
And said
unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage,
not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.
Nevertheless
the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those
things which were spoken by Paul.
And because
the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart
thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter;
which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.
And when the
south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing
thence, they sailed close by Crete.
But not long
after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
And when the
ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
And running
under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the
boat:
Which when
they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest
they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.
And we being
exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
And the
third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
And when
neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us,
all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.
But after
long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye
should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have
gained this harm and loss.
And now I
exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life
among you, but of the ship.
For there
stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
Saying, Fear
not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all
them that sail with thee.
Wherefore,
sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told
me.
Howbeit we
must be cast upon a certain island.
But when the
fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about
midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;
And sounded,
and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they
sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.
Then fearing
lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern,
and wished for the day.
And as the
shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat
into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the
foreship,
Paul said to
the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be
saved.
Then the
soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.
And while
the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is
the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken
nothing.
Wherefore I
pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an
hair fall from the head of any of you.
And when he
had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all:
and when he had broken it, he began to eat.
Then were
they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.
And we were
in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.
And when
they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the
sea.
The
Shipwreck
And when it
was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a
shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the
ship.
And when
they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and
loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made
toward shore.
And falling
into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart
stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the
violence of the waves.
And the
soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out,
and escape.
But the
centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded
that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get
to land:
And the
rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to
pass, that they escaped all safe to land’’. Acts 27: 1-44

The
Lord protects and sustains you even in your most vulnerable and unconscious
state
’’ I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the
LORD sustained me’’ Psalm 3:5
32.
Whether
it be persecution, rebellion, despondency or darkness stir up your faith for
God’s got your back.
‘’ In thee,
O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy
righteousness’’.
Bow down
thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of
defence to save me’’. .
For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore
for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
Pull me out
of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
Into thine
hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
I have hated
them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
I will be
glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast
known my soul in adversities;
And hast not
shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
Have mercy
upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my
soul and my belly.
for my life
is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of
mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
I was a
reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear
to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
I am
forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
For I have
heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel
together against me, they devised to take away my life.
But I
trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
My times are
in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that
persecute me.
Make thy
face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.
Let me not
be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and
let them be silent in the grave.
Let the
lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and
contemptuously against the righteous.
Oh how great
is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou
hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
Thou shalt
hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep
them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Blessed be
the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
For I said
in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest
the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
O love the
LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewarded
the proud doer.
Be of good
courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the
Jesus’
judgement and justice on the earth is to your advantage and protection
‘’ Behold,
the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch,
and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in
the earth’’. Jeremiah 23:5

said to Elijah the Titbit, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria
and say to them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to
